Art - [email protected] Make a family of Pet Rocks! Lie on the ground and look for shapes in the clouds! They’ll all be organic shapes, right?! Take your paper and crayons outside- Find a flower, sit in front of it and draw it without picking it! Use your “naked crayons” to make a colorful, overlapping leaf rubbing collage. Will you use a variety of leaves, or all of the same kind? Do you have a spot to do a tree weaving? Old t-shirts make great weft material! Look out of the window- take in all that you see! Focus!

All classes are currently working creatively designing a piece of art to reflect our school's namesake, Bettie Weaver. Mrs. Weaver's favorite bird was the bluebird, thus our mascot. And, she loved teaching students all of the facts about Virginia. So, we are combining a bluebird with the Virginia state flower for our final piece this year. They are looking great so far! Art forms will be sent home in October and products will be back in time for Christmas gifts. I can't wait for you to see your child's work! SOCKS NEEDED: The first artist we will be studying this year is Wayne Thiebaud and I am currently gathering materials for the projects. If you have any stray socks in neutral colors (beige, brown, white) or pinks and yellows, please send them to the Art Room. You will be amazed when you see them transformed into 3-D pieces of art!
